THANASIS PETRAKIS is a Director of Photography, filmmaker, and producer with more than two decades of experience crafting compelling visual stories at the highest levels of professional sports and entertainment.
For over 20 years, Thanasis has filmed, edited, and produced premium content for the National Basketball Association, helping shape the league’s visual identity across broadcast features, player profiles, documentaries, and global campaigns. His work behind the lens has captured some of basketball’s most iconic athletes and moments, blending cinematic storytelling with the emotional intensity of elite competition.
In addition to his long-standing NBA career, Thanasis has spent more than a decade filming on UFC Embedded, the flagship behind-the-scenes series from the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Through Embedded, he has documented the raw, personal journeys of fighters in the days leading up to the sport’s biggest events, earning a reputation for authenticity, trust, and visual precision in high-pressure environments.

Fresh Focus Sports
Expanding his creative vision beyond league platforms, Thanasis founded Fresh Focus Sports, his independent production brand focused on premium sports storytelling and original long-form content. In 2025, Fresh Focus Sports released its debut feature documentary, Open Book, further establishing Thanasis as a dynamic creative force capable of leading projects from concept to completion.
